Blank Maps

These maps have been intentionally left “blank” (unlabled and in black and white) for you to color, label and make your own maps. We’ve added some suggestions for things to label on the maps, but be creative with your own too! Find answers by comparing them with the maps found in the Lake Champlain Basin Atlas. You may also want to add the following to your map: title, date, legend, north arrow, and author.

1. Lake Champlain Basin Label the Lake Champlain Basin, Lake Champlain, Lake George, the states of New York and Vermont, and the Province of Quebec, Canada. Draw in the US/Canadian border line and the Adirondack and Green Mountains.
2. Lake Champlain Label Lake Champlain and some of the islands. Add major cities around the Lake, such as Burlington, St. Albans, and Vergennes in Vermont, and Plattsburgh and Ticonderoga in New York. Historic sites and shipwrecks too!
3. Lake Champlain Basin Region Label northeastern states, Canadian Provinces, lakes, rivers, oceans. See the “Lake Champlain Region” map for help. Show where the waters of Lake Champlain flow. Draw in the Champlain Canal.
4. Major Rivers in the Lake Champlain Basin Label these major rivers: AuSable, Boquet, Lamoille, Lewis Creek, Great Chazy, Otter Creek, Mettawee, Missisquoi, Poultney, Salmon, Saranac.
5. Lake Champlain Watersheds Label the major sub-basins of Lake Champlain: Boquet/AuSable, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Missisquoi, Otter/Lewis, Poultney-Mettawee, Saranac/Chazy, Winooski. Try choosing a different color for each and making your own legend (for example: Red=Lamoille Basin).
6. Counties in the Basin Label the counties in the Basin. Find the “Political Boundaries” map for help.
7. Towns in the Basin Label the 239 towns in the Basin (tough!). Find the “Political Boundaries” map for help.
