Boat Launches

The Lake Champlain Basin Program continues to support local efforts to improve and enhance public access to Lake Champlain and its lower tributaries. These waterways provide a variety of recreational experiences from quiet paddling and sailing, to fishing, water skiing, and power boating. Visitors come from around the region and beyond, bringing both tourism revenue for local businesses and new stewards of the lake’s resources.

Boat launches also pose a challenge because they are potential entry points for new aquatic invasive species (AIS) brought from other water bodies. Each summer, the LCBP staffs many of the boat launches on the Lake with stewards who conduct courtesy inspections of boats to identify and remove invasive species. These boat launch stewards also inform boaters about the threat posed by AIS and steps they can do to help prevent their spread.
